Clinical chemistry is the branch of laboratory medicine that measures chemical markers in blood, serum and other body fluids using analysers. The results help your doctor understand how organs such as the liver and kidneys are working. Clinical chemistry covers analyser-based tests on blood and other body fluids, including markers linked to the liver, kidneys, electrolytes and metabolism.
Typical clinical chemistry work includes electrolytes such as sodium and potassium, kidney markers, liver markers, minerals like calcium, and other values linked to metabolism. Each result is shown with the unit and reference range so your doctor can compare it with earlier reports.
The two terms overlap and are often used together. Biochemistry usually describes the routine blood chemistry panel, while clinical chemistry is the wider laboratory discipline that also covers fluids other than blood and more specialised chemical markers.
Preparation depends on the test your doctor has requested. Some tests need fasting, some need a sample at a certain time of day, and some may require you to pause a medicine, which you should do only if your doctor agrees. Send us the test names on WhatsApp and we will explain what to do.
Report timing depends on the test. We confirm it when the sample is taken. Reports are available in print or on WhatsApp.
Please note: this page explains the service in general terms. It is not medical advice. Ask your doctor which tests you need, and contact Aarogya Seva Lab to confirm that a specific test is available.
